The vast majority of people associated with the healthcare system are well aware of the many challenges we face, including a growing population. There is an ever increasing demand for services but less resources available to fulfil that need.
While it is a rather new market, the digital healthcare industry uses various aspects of technology to help sustain the healthcare industry throughout this challenge. It plans to accomplish this through the process of of promoting a change in lifestyle behaviours and an increase in the efficiency of administrative and medical processes.
Many of us are well aware of the various apps on the marketplace that use rewards for specific behaviours, devices that are used for the tracking of medical purposes and of course, web portals designed to order prescriptions and make appointments. However, while there has been a boom in digital healthcare, it simply is not growing as fast as one would hope despite the growing need. Sites like RTT Solutions are leading the way, but more need to follow.
Looking at the size and scope of the NHS, it would stand to reason that digital healthcare services and products must grow. With this in mind, we must look for the right leadership to help grow this on a larger scale.
It is through leadership in the digital healthcare system that shall come from unexpected sources such as the general public themselves. As the demand for healthcare service continues to grow, the population must learn to adopt new approaches which will meet their needs. The third sector must learn to adopt a larger role in the spreading of health care and wellbeing in the communities in which they serve. And the high street must be able to provide new and unique forms of healthcare based upon the demand of the population. For those who are unable to afford it will be forced to turn to networks within the community such as patient groups and housing associations.
This type of situation has already begun in some communities. Just recently, in the north of Scotland, a social landlord created an app which allows the elderly and vulnerable the ability to reach out to support services and maintain a high quality of life. In addition, there have been a number of pharmacies and supermarkets across the United Kingdom that have introduced self-help kiosks and drop-in facilities.
As technology changes and evolves it helps to introduce new aspects to the healthcare marketplace which brings in new ideas, relationships and overall helps the public.
When consumer products such as tablets, smartphones and televisions are combined with the healthcare system it helps to bring about a unique system that is much more efficient, convenient and overall effective If this is able to happen sooner as opposed to later, the general public is going to be in a much better situation to address the mounting problems of loneliness, mental health, obesity and diabetes.
The growing trend that is expected in the digital healthcare market is poised to offer a significant amount of help to systems that are no longer working.
Through the integration of both state and private providers, digital healthcare will be able to create a future where all people are able to access quality healthcare which is going to suit their particular needs and lifestyle.
The growing population needs to be addressed and a dependable source of health care and service needs. It is time that we as a population help to welcome a new age in healthcare!
